This book does a good job of separating fact from speculation and is respectful without any attempt to indoctrinate. This excellent treatment of the broad spectrum of Christianity is smart, thorough, inquisitive, and sometimes humorous. Horstman gives voice and attention to the doubts many people have about the sometimes doubtable aspects of historic and contemporary Christianity.
Allen Horstman challenges centuries of theologian's findings and writings without validity for this reader. This might be a better book for atheists but not for believers and followers of Christ and God's word. As for my copy, it is going into the dumpster.
This book was very thought provoking and entertaining
It had a very different style of writing. I felt like the author was talking to me. His "aside" comments helped to give that impression. I believe those who do not know much about interpreting the Bible will gain many insights.
