I know some reviewers think the characters were not developed enough, but there was enough background for Candace to get where she was coming from and a hint of mystery with Lucas to understand something had happened to make him become an instant recluse and we don't have to know that at the beginning.
I do think the author needs to use more contractions with dialogue. No one says "I do not mean" etc., it's so stilted and takes you out of the moment. The sex is pretty hot and I love that it happened quickly. That's actually more realistic than people give the book credit for - it's human nature and both are in situations where they need it. There was some humorous dialogue as well, which made me smile.
The individual books (really novellas) themselves are too short and would work better combined into one book - which would still be short but at least hit closer to 100 pages.
